To say that 2020 has been a difficult year would be an understatement. 2020 pushed many of us to isolation, despair and grief with a pandemic, an economic meltdown, soaring unemployment, racial violence, and political turmoil. There is no doubt in my mind that 2020 will be defined as one of the worst years for many Americans.
But, since our past does not define our future, we can leave the past behind us, in our rear-view mirror, where it belongs. Despite the difficulties of 2020, can you identify something good that you experienced? Difficulties tend to push us out of our comfort zones and force us to change our behavior. Is there a lesson you can glean from this year’s challenges?
Maybe 2020 was about recognizing our personal and professional weaknesses, highlighting the areas that needed improvement so we could evolve into 2021 strengthen by the experiences and lessons learned. Let’s put 2020 behind us, celebrate any successes and learn from whatever mistakes we may have made.
What do you need to do or put in place to maximize your chances of a successful future? I encourage you to stop, think, and reflect on what this year has taught you. We can’t change our past, but we can certainly prepare and plan for a better tomorrow.
Wishing you and your family a prosperous new year!
